Card Discussion 1

I'm sorry about missing two card of the weeks. Seeing as it isn't wednesday, I won't call this a Card of the Week, but it will be some card discussion. Let's get started, shall we?

First card I will like to talk about is Royal Mipedian Academy of Melee Arts.

This is a really nifty little card that I like to use. The control decks like danian infection should be a great home for a card like this. If you are up against a serious underworld burn deck, this card will stop your opponent from dealing damage to your creatures, and when the turn is over, you can put this card on your Queen, or other creatures you want to protect, and they will be safe from most of your opponent's big damage dealers :).

It's good, especially in Mipedian Decks. Not only will you get Initiative (if you don't have surprise) due to their really high Speed, but with Invisibility Strike and not much that can affect the outcome of the battle except from healing, the battle would be over real quick.

Hmmm:( I wish I had one I've gone through countless packs of RotO and I haven't one yet but on the bright side is a excellent card for Mipedian users

Like the other said, it is a good card for Mipedian, since it should prevent the recklessness damage in case you lose your conjurer.

Would it really? It says it prevents non-combat damage but Recklessness is in a way a part of the attack and the wording actually says "deals X damage to itself" (or something close) so I'm not 100% sure. Confirmation from someone who is 100% would be nice. As for the cards, I'll just continue to reiterate what was stated, it's a great Location for Mipedians. It also allows to save their protection Mugic like Song of Shelter for other crucial battles.

It says "non attack" damage, so I suppose recklessness wouldn't be affected.

I mean would be affected :P. The damage from recklessness would be reduced to zero.

Hmm, I tried to put a pair of these in a fluid/m'arrillian deck. For the same reasons of protection not only against mugic, but the was it was worded I though I may have been able to stop Gan'trak's ability.

This was when I was running into a lot of stat drain decks. Lets just to say it didn't work for me in that sense.
Great card tho, happy to have two of them.

I don't believe this would stop against Gan'trak. Gan'trak never deals damage, and his ability doesn't target creatures.

This would work just as well in Danian decks as Occasus said in his review. After a quick turn 1 set up, you're dealing with a Nimmei with at least 80-100 energy, and 2 stats near or over 100. No mugic makes that hard to deal with, same goes for Katharaz with the huge elemental basis that's currently in play outside of M'arrillians. Then it's mirage ability can protect your creatures like the Queen and Mahrrant who you want to be protected from Mugic. Challor on this mirage = untargettable except by battle. Lovely thing I say.

I love this card. I find it is especially good against Invisability: Strik decks. Since strike is non attack damage it is reduced to 0 making those decks pretty useless. All in all I reate it a 9/10. It does get rid of recklesness since recklesness isnt a attack, yet it also stops damage dealing mugic which is a huge draw back for underworld decks.

Comment 2 above mine, Invisibility Strike adds X damage to your attack, making it a part of the attack so therefore it wouldn't be negated. Why else would this be a Mipedian Location if it worked against them?

Occasus said...

Strike damage increases the amount of damage in your first attack. This location will not affect any strike damage.

I know, but it does not origonally come from the attack, it comes from the creature. I have witniced this first hand. My TTSK at meele academy, first attack. I do confusion... should do 20 right? Wrong, it did 10 becuase it negated the strike. This example has worked against me in so many ways. It also negates Gimweis unbrainwashed ability and the sowrd of Khy'at.

Sorry two posts above mine, that's wrong. If anything, it was a bug. Invisibility Strike doesn't make damage come out of nowhere, it's added onto the attack you make. What you likely experienced was a bug.

Lol BlackTree I certainly won't ever forget that *shudders* That was horrible. Trend anyone? Occasus is previewing an awful lot of cards from a danian perspective.
